Our aims.
Our main aim is to reduce the chances of any other family having
to go through what we have and continue to endure, no parent,
child, sibling or partner needs to lose a loved one, just because a
driver chose to drink over the legal limit before driving their car.
Some people reading this may find it hard to understand why
Aidan and the three other passengers got in the car in the first
place, and this is something we have also had to come to terms
with, but there are so many possible factors for this –
1 - Not knowing how much alcohol the driver had consumed.
2 - Not being aware of the dangers of drink driving, as there are
no current campaigns running for bringing awareness to this
danger.
3 - Just being young and carefree.
but we feel it is fully the car driver’s responsibility to ensure the
safety of their passengers, a car driven by a driver over the legal
drink drive limit becomes a lethal weapon.
We want to reduce the chances of this happening to anyone else
by campaigning to introduce the following –
1 - We would like the government to introduce lifetime driving
bans, for drivers that kill while over the legal drink drive limit.
Driving is a privilege and that privilege should be taken away for
life, if you kill under these circumstances.
2 - We would like the government to introduce a new driver
awareness course for all new drivers explaining the dangers of
drink/drug driving, speeding, and using your phone while driving.
We would like the attending of this course to be a compulsory
part of obtaining your driving licence.
3 - We would like the government to re-introduce a drink driving
awareness campaign including adverts on television.
We feel just implementing these three aims would having a
major contribution in reducing the needless deaths caused by
this type of crime.
